Miss Carlita Nicole Cheek

Miss Carlita Nicole Cheek, entered into Eternal rest on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. She was born on June 10, 1982 in Newberry, SC to Mrs. Vickie Maybin Hunter and Mr. Dwight E. Cheek.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Newberry, SC.

Miss Cheek was a 1999 honor graduate of Newberry High School and a 2003 honor graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC with a Bachelors of Science degree.

She was also employed with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice as a Regional Classification Supervisor.

Carlita loved spending time with her daughter and had a passion for butterflies.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Mr. Alonzo Maybin; paternal grandfather, Mr. Eugene Cheek and stepfather, Mr. Gonzer Lee Hunter.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious and loving memories include her mother, Mrs. Vickie Maybin Hunter of Newberry, SC; father, Mr. Dwight E. Cheek (Denise) of New Jersey; a daughter, Hunter V. Cheek-Rice of the home; two brothers, Travis Cheek of Lindenwold, NJ and Kenneth McClain of San Juan, Texas; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Shirley Maybin of Newberry, SC; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Malissie Cheek of New Jersey; two uncles; two aunts; a God sister, Tyechia Austin; and a host of cousins and friends including two special friends, Ronny Grate and Carey Johnson.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of her mother, Mrs. Vickie Maybin Hunter (2401 Rosalyn Drive, Newberry, SC).

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1501 College Street, Newberry, SC. Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery in Newberry, SC.
