Mr. Marion David Holman, 68, of Irmo, SC affectionately known as "Buddha" and "Bob Hope", peacefully entered into Eternal rest with his family by his side on March 9, 2017. He was born on November 11, 1948 . He was reared in the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Artimisha Richardson of Irmo, SC.

He was an active member and former trustee for 11 years at St. Paul A.M.E. Church of  Irmo, SC.

He honorably served in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Having a great appreciation of the outdoors, Marion was an avid fisherman and hunter. Marion was a sports enthusiast, especially baseball and NASCAR.  Marion was always willing to lend a hand to his friends, family, and his community.

He was a loyal and dedicated employee at Shaw Industries for 50 years.

His mother, Mrs. Serlillian Holman and sister, Mary Doris Holman Simpson, preceded him to Heaven.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories are his two daughters, Carol D. H. Leggett, of Blythewood, SC and Marian E. Holman, of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren, Lance, David, Megan, Arianna, and Camille; one sister, Mae Francis Meetze of Irmo, SC; one niece, Terrie Simpson of Mooresville, NC; one nephew, Al Postell (Deanna) of Huntersville, NC; two great- nephews Alex and Paul; and a host of aunts, Betty Washington (Robert), Irmo, SC, Johnie Boyd, Columbia, SC, Thelma Hardy, Irmo, SC, Bertha Lamb, Baltimore, Md and Lorene Quattlebaum, Philadelphia, PA cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers. Memorials may be made to Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, 835 Kennerly Road, Irmo, SC 29063.

Friends may visit the homes of his sister, Mae Francis Meetze (104 Anna B. Lane, Irmo) and his aunt, Betty Washington (Robert) (7449 College Street, Irmo).

Funeral service will be conducted 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 835 Kennerly Road, Irmo, SC ( viewing one hour prior to service). Burial will follow with Military rites at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
