Welcome to the memorial page for

Mr. Michael Anthony Cannon

November 22, 1966 ~ November 30, 2016 (age 50) 50 Years Old

The Journey Began – Michael Anthony Cannon was born on November 22, 1966, in Newberry, South Carolina, the ninth child of nine children, to the late Claudia C. Gallman Cannon and the late Freddie Lindsay.

The Climb – He received his spiritual foundation at St. Matthew Baptist Church at a very early age. In 1987, he graduated from Newberry High School. He was a resident of J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry, SC.

He Touched the Hearts of Many – Michael, at birth, wasn't expected to live a week, but by the nursing and prayers of his Mother, God touched his heart to be blessed with 50 years even though his health began to decline after an accident. His heart continued to shine bright as he touched many with whom he came in contact. To know him was to love him.

His Path To Glory – On November 30, 2016, God gently closed his eyes and gave his soul rest. For his family and friends to receive this news both shocked and hurt us.

One brother, James Thomas Cannon; two sisters, Nancy Mae Cannon Counts and Clara Francis Cannon Brown; maternal grandmother, Clara P. Gallman and a great-nephew, Joshua V. Counts, preceded him to Heaven.

He leaves to cherish memories, three sisters, Shirby Duncan, Bernetha Cannon Epps, (George) and Margaret Cannon Epps (Ervin, Sr.), all of Newberry, SC; a devoted nephew and niece, Reginald Cannon (TaShawn) and Tonya Bouleware (James), reared in the home; three aunts, Thelma Gallman of Brooklyn, New York, Vanetta Caldwell (George) of Columbia, SC, Clara Williams and Lillie Mininer, both of Greensboro, NC; additional brother-in-law, William Counts of Newberry, SC; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Saint Matthew Baptist Church in Newberry, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery in Newberry, SC
