Welcome to the memorial page for

Mr. Paul Darrell Sims

October 23, 1958 ~ June 29, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Mr. Paul Darrell Sims, son of Mrs. Annie Laura Suber Sims and the late Mr. Albert Sims, was born October 23, 1958, in Prosperity, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life at Lexington Medical Hospital and was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 29, 2017. Paul was a faithful, active and lifelong member of Saint Mark A.M.E. Church, serving formerly as President of the Usher Board for a number of years, as a Trustee and member of the Male Chorus. Paul attended the schools of Newberry County and was employed by Richland-Lexington County School District #5. Paul had a love for people in general, but especially elderly people. He always had time for them. He loved cooking and preparing his Sunday Dinners that was a surprise to everyone except for one person; along with singing his favorite song with no tune. Many feel blessed to have known him. His brothers, Grady Floyd Sims (Bo), William Harold Sims (Press), Robert Lee Sims, Howard Jerome Sims, and James Earl Sims (Jam) preceded him to Heaven.

Those who celebrate his life and share loving and precious memories include one brother, Willie Albert Sims of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Eva Curry (John) of Pomaria, SC and Mary Ann Johnson (Reginald) of Irmo, SC; one uncle, James Suber (Thomasena) of Newberry, SC; devoted nephews, Stanley
Curry, Ronald Curry and Albert Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and the Saint Mark A.M.E. Church Family who grieve his departure but know that he is resting in Jesus.

The family will receive friends at the home of 67 J and W Road, Pomaria, SC.

Funeral service and burial will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Saint Mark A.M.E. Church in Pomaria, SC.
