Mr. Roger (Hook) Davis

Mr. Roger (Hook) Davis of 158 Mountain Drive, Chapin, South Carolina entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born in Chapin, South Carolina to the late Mr. Matthew Davis and the late Mrs. Bertha Mae Hook.

Roger was reared in the loving home of his late grandparents, Mr. Julius Hook and Mrs. Lottie Mae Hook. Additional relatives reared in the home include Ben Hook, Gladys Hawkins, Brady Hook, Doris Anderson and the late Alonzo Hook.

He was a member of Providence A.M.E Church of Little Mountain, SC.

Mr. Davis was preceded to Heaven by two sisters, Renier Rebecca Hook and Doris Anderson; seven uncles and three aunts.  

Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories are his wife, Mrs. Sener Bowers Davis; three sons, Ronald Davis (Marylu) of Chapin, SC, Michael Caughman of Irmo, SC and Christopher Davis of Chapin, SC; three daughters, Velvet McGowan of Columbia, SC, Amanda Lee of Sugar Land, Texas and Marilyn Davis of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice Hook (Ambra) of Coatesville, Pa and Kelvin Hook (Wanda) of Philadelphia, PA; five uncles; six aunts including a devoted aunt, Bessie Alice Mayers of Elizabeth, NJ; brothers-in-law, Getty Bowers (Dorothy) of Chapin, SC, Ralph Kinard of Englewood, NJ, Raymond Mitchell of Duluth, Minnesota and Walter Anderson of Philadelphia, Pa; sisters-in-law, Vivian Hunter and Deborah McLeod both of Chapin, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   

Funeral service and burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Providence AME Church, 701 Meadowlark Road, Little Mountain, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service).
