Mrs. Luecreasie Glasgow Elmore, daughter of the late James A. and Emma Wilson Glasgow, was born July 12, 1917, in Newberry County, SC. She departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2018, at St. Thomas More Medical Complex/Nursing Facility in Hyattsville, MD.
She attended Jalapa Rosenwall Public School in Newberry County. Creasie was a member of Old Beaverdam Baptist Church for many years, until she relocated to Washington, DC, but she continued to support the church until her health declined. Later, she became a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist in Washington, DC. She also attended Bethel Way of the Cross Church with her cousin, Doris Easton (James), Huntington, MD.
Creasie was a Homemaker/Nurse’s Aid for many years. Her hobbies were cooking, fishing and crocheting and was good at them all.
Her husband of sixty years, Mr. Ulysses Elmore, preceded her in death.
Creasie leaves to cherish her memories, her only surviving sibling, Mrs. Cleathie Mae Rikard, Newberry, SC; one aunt, Mrs. Hannah Wilson Suber, Newberry, SC; a devoted niece, Ms. Beatrice Reid, Philadelphia, PA; two great-nieces, Ms. Vontress Samuel and Ms. Niesha Samuel, both of Newberry, SC. Creasie didn’t have children of her own, but she claimed two cousins as her own, Betty Bowman and Doris Easton (James); and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including devoted friends, Ms. Donna Kirch, Mr. John Kolb, Jr., Ms. Gifty Kofie, all of Washington, DC, Ms. Donna Kay Ritchie and Ms. Carolyn Wampler, both of Harrisonburg, VA, and Mrs. Barbara Wormley and son, Washington, DC.
Creasie will be missed by all that came in contact with her. She was fun loving, full of laughter and ready to share how the Lord had blessed her.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Old Beaverdam Baptist Church, Newberry, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
