Ms. Gladys Sara Gallman was born January 15, 1934, in Little Mountain, South Carolina to the late Elder James Gallman, Sr. and the late Sallie Willie B. Gallman. She transitioned peacefully into Eternal Rest on Monday, November 28, 2016.

Gladys accepted Christ into her life at an early age and became a member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.

She attended Richlex High School in Irmo, SC and graduated in 1952 before moving to Montclair, New Jersey later in the 1950’s. She joined Central Presbyterian Church in Montclair, Essex County, New Jersey, where she served as a Deacon for many years. As a faithful Christian and active community volunteer, Gladys displayed her love and kindness to everyone, especially children. She worked as a caretaker for a young child with special needs. She also started a Baseball League, and her youngest son, Keith, played on one of the teams. She continued her work with young people at Montclair State College where she was employed as a dietician. Lastly, she worked as an aide with the Montclair Public School System, where she retired after twenty-three years of service.

Gladys enjoyed working and she rewarded herself by shopping and buying beautiful outfits and shoes. She lived her life based on Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you.” Whenever she shopped, her list always included family members who would receive attractive items she had purchased. Gladys was gifted with the ability to talk with everyone, and she never passed up the opportunity to share her opinion, which was often given with a loving smile. In 2010, Gladys moved back to South Carolina to live with her oldest son Kirk.

Two sisters, Mrs. Dalice Gallman Tobias and Ms. Mary Martha Gallman and a brother, Mr. James Gallman, Jr., preceded her to Heaven.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish loving memories include her two devoted sons, Mr. Kirk Gallman (Debra), Newberry, SC and Mr. Keith Gallman, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Mayer, Montclair, NJ and Mrs. Barbara Mitchell, Columbia, SC; one sister-in- law, Mrs. Georgia Gallman, Little Mountain, SC. Her loving memory is also shared by one aunt, Mrs. Alice B. Stephens (Allen), Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and devoted friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral service and burial will be conducted 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, 206 Mount Pilgrim Church Road, Prosperity, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service).
