Emma Lilliewood Obituary

Emma Laura Lilliewood, a woman of remarkable talent and diverse accomplishments, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024. Born August 22, 1937 in Shubuta Mississippi, she lived a life characterized by dedication to her work, compassion for others, and a passion for learning.

Known as Laura by friends and family, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville, laying the foundation for her multifaceted career. She pursued advanced studies at the University of Toledo, honing her skills and knowledge.

Throughout her journey, Laura made significant contributions. She began as a bookkeeper for the A&P Tea Company before becoming a fashion designer with the Milton Heflin Company in New York City. Her creativity left an indelible mark.

Emma's commitment to public service led her to roles as a case worker in Chicago and Toledo. In education, she instructed for the Ohio Board of Education and coordinated programs affiliated with Ohio State University.

Married to the Late Dr. Eugene W. Lilliewood, Sr., Laura assumed the duties of office manager for Dr. Lilliewood's practice in Columbia S.C. and later in Beaufort, SC, showcasing her organizational skills.

In her later years, she ventured into antiques, establishing e-commerce shops with global clientele.

Laura Lilliewood will be remembered for her dedication, compassion, and zest for life. She leaves behind a loving family including sons Colonel(R) E.W. "Chip" Lilliewood, Jr.(Melissa) and Mr. James Lilliewood (Maria-Jose), grandchildren Major E.W. "Trey" Lilliewood III, Ethan Lilliewood, and Oliver Lilliewood, and a host of cherished cousins and friends.

Her legacy as a businesswoman and lover of antiquities will endure, inspiring future generations.

Graveside services for Mrs. Lilliewood will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11:00 am at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC where she will be interred next to Dr. Lilliewood.

 Donations in Emma's honor can be made to the United Service Organizations Inc. (USO).
