Mr. Calvin E. Counts

Mr. Calvin E. Counts was born in Newberry County on August 20, 1952, a son of the late Foster M. Counts, Sr., and Mrs. Dorothy Sligh Counts. He departed this life on Monday, April 1, 2024 at West Village Post Acute in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mr. Counts attended school in Newberry County and worked in the textile industry for many years. He was a self-taught auto mechanic, gardener and family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster M. Counts, Sr. and Dorothy Sligh Counts and a brother Foster M. Counts, Jr.

 He is survived by three sisters, Linda J. Counts (Kenneth Plummer), Dorothy L. Counts-Boone (Jesse) of Columbia, SC and Miriam L. Counts of Blythewood, SC; two brothers, Ronald Counts (Cheryl) and Donald Counts (Sandra) of Newberry, SC.  A daughter of his heart, Pam Shelton, four grandchildren, Erica Leaphart (Brian), India Mobley, Olivia O’Neal and Madison Singleton and two great grandchildren.   A host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends including one special friend Ruth Chaplin.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Counts will be conducted on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Williams, Wilson, Goudelock Memorial Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St. Newberry, SC 29108.

Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
