Mr. Carl Rudolph Williams

Mr. Carl Rudolph “Rudy” Williams, son of the late Mr. Evans Williams and Ms. Alma Williams, was born on January 5, 1960, in Newberry, SC. He departed this earthly life and entered into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

He was a graduate of Newberry High School, Class of 1978. He continued his education at Spartanburg Methodist College and graduated. He then attended Claflin University. He had an astounding talent in basketball. He played on the College Basketball All-American team and also played basketball in the honorific Junior Olympics overseas.

He was a member of Elisha A.M.E. Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include two brothers, Thomas Williams (Kathy) of Decatur, GA, and Evans Anthony Williams of Newberry, SC; two aunts, Patricia Clamp of Newberry, SC, and Jannie Samuel (Kenneth) of Prosperity, SC; four nephews, including a devoted nephew, Evans Markell Williams of Newberry, SC; two nieces; a host of cousins, including a devoted cousin, Jessica Davidson of Newberry, SC; and friends, including a devoted friend, Tony Dudley of Newberry, SC.

The family will receive friends at the home, 2418 Eleanor Street in Newberry.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Saint Matthew Baptist Church, 61 Boundary Street, Newberry. Burial will follow in Elisha A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
