Mr. James Gallman, Jr.

Mr. James Gallman, Jr., affectionately known as “Baby Jr.”, was born July 31, 1945, to the late Elder James Gallman, Sr. and Mrs. Sallie Willie Bedenbaugh Gallman in Little Mountain, South Carolina. He was called into eternal rest on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

James was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and he served as a faithful member of the Trustee Board and enjoyed singing on the Men’s Choir. He loved the Lord and he was a devoted servant of God.

James was educated in Newberry County schools and was a graduate of Gallman High School, Class of 1963.

He was employed by Bell South Telephone Company, General Electric Corporation and the State of South Carolina. Later, he retired from Lexington-Richland School District Five. He took great pride in all aspects of his employment.

James enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He hosted family gatherings where he delighted in sharing his “world famous barbeque”. He also enjoyed fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves on U-verse. He had a keen sense of style and always ensured that all of his outfits were well-coordinated.

Two sisters, Mrs. Dalice Gallman Tobias and Ms. Mary Martha Gallman and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Victoria Cruz Gallman, preceded him to Heaven.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious memories include his wife, Georgia Patterson Gallman; his loving children, three sons, Mr. Samuel Franklin Gallman, (Mae), Newberry, SC, Mr. Marvin Gallman (Sallie), Saluda, SC, Mr. Barry O’Neal Gallman (Tonya), Little Mountain, SC and one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Gallman Hare, Columbia, SC; ten grandchildren, Neal Boozer-Gallman, Crystal Gallman, Latisha Gallman, Cornelius Gallman, Latoya Pete, Desmond Hare, Tenesha Hare, Joe Cruz, Angie Cruz, Eddie Cruz; eleven greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Ms. Gladys Gallman, Newberry, SC, Mrs. Rose Mayer, Montclair, NJ and Mrs. Barbara Mitchell, Columbia, SC; a devoted daughter-in-law, Ms. Rita K. Gallman, Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Mr. Samuel Patterson, Chapin, SC; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rozina Javis and Ms. Cora Johnson, both of Columbia, SC, Ms. Elizabeth Patterson, Timmonsville, SC, and Mrs. Sandra Rutherford (David), Newberry, SC. His loving memory is also shared by one aunt, Mrs. Alice B. Stephens (Allen), Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, including Mr. John Gallman (Blondell) and Mr. Kirk Gallman; cousins and other loving relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home.  

Funeral service and burial will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, 206 Mount Pilgrim Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 (viewing one hour prior to the service).
