Mr. John Curry, Jr. Obituary

Mr. John Curry, Jr., son of the late John Curry, Sr., and the late Annie Laura Williams Curry Garmany was born May 24, 1943, in Pomaria, South Carolina. He departed this life on February 2, 2019, at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, where he gained his Heavenly wings to live with Jesus.

He was a faithful member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church where he served on the Trustee Board until his health failed. To his family and the community he was affectionately known as “Sim”. He loved to drive his yellow 1987 Chevrolet Caprice. He was the only one that would drive it.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are his devoted wife of fifty-six years and five months, Mrs. Eva Pearl Sims Curry of the home; two devoted and loving sons, Stanley Curry of Pomaria, SC, and Ronald Curry of the home; one devoted brother, Phillip Curry of Pomaria, SC; one loving aunt, Marlene Flemon of Pomaria, SC; one uncle, Jeffrey Williams, Sr. (Edna) of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Willie Sims of Knoxville, TN; two-sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson (Reginald) of Irmo, SC, and Doreatha Curry of Newberry, SC; God son, Lonnie “L.J.” Thomas, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the St. Mark A.M.E. Church Family.

The family will receive friends at the home, 10752 Broad River Road, Pomaria.

Funeral services and burial will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Saint Mark A.M.E. Church in Pomaria.
