Mr. Willis Mayes, Jr.

Mr. Willis Mayes, Jr., entered into Eternal rest on October 7, 2017 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry, SC. He was born August 7, 1929 in Newberry County, SC to the late Mr. Willis Mayes, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ethel Gary Mayes.

He was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Church in Newberry, SC and was also a member of the Sons of Aid Society Lodge # 57.

Mr. Mayes was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Crump Mayes and one son, Larry Mayes.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories are three sons, Willis Mayes III of Silverstreet, SC, Porterfield Mayes (Norma) of Newberry, SC and Nathaniel Mayes of Silverstreet, SC; four daughters, Debra Mayes Gamble (Chris) of Atlanta, GA, Shirley Mayes Johnson (Charles) of Irmo, SC, Delores Mayes Pitts (Leonard) of Cross Hill, SC and Sarah Mayes Cuttino (Rev. James) of North Charleston, SC; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Belmont Baptist Church in Silverstreet, SC.
