A much-loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Barbara Nance Floyd entered into Eternal rest on August 7, 2018.
Mrs. Barbara Nance Floyd, daughter of the late Mr. Robert Nance, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ella Abney Nance, was born December 1, 1941 in Newberry, SC.
Barbara attended Newberry County Schools and was a graduate of Gallman High School Class of 1960. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church until its closing. Then she joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. Mrs. Floyd was also a member of the A. Philip Randolph Voter Registration, an organization that helped to secure voting and civil rights for members of the Newberry community. She served on Bethlehem’s Missionary and Pastor’s Aid Ministry. In addition to serving in those roles, Barbara was also a member of the Woman’s Home Aid Society and Past member of the Reeder-Glenn Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
Barbara was employed at Whitten Center for several years as a Residence Leader before she retired.
She was predeceased by husband, Bobby Floyd; brother, Robert Nance, Jr. and stepson, Larry Sims.
Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious memories are two daughters, Audrey Michelle Robinson (Jackie) and Pamela E. Gray both of Newberry; two sisters, Lois Nance and Rozell Caldwell (Rev. James Caldwell Jr.) both of Newberry; stepchildren, Jannell Alexander (Daniel) and Raymond Sims both of Newberry; grandchildren, Taurean Robinson of Columbia, SC, Kavian (Tere) Sanders of Newberry, Kiotti Gray of Clinton, SC and Kanequia Gray of Newberry; great-grandchildren, Kingston Gray and Eli Schumpert; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Dawkins of Chicago, Illinois;10 step grandchildren;13 step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including two devoted cousins, Harriet Wells-Keigler and Barbara Jean Jeter and friends including devoted friends, Mrs. Frances Jefferson, Ms. Dorothy Sanders, Mrs. Lessie Brown and Mr. Harold Goudelock.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1501 College Street, Newberry, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery (Newberry, SC).
