Mrs. Daisy Lee Hare Swittenburg

Daisy Lee Hair Swittenburg, daughter of the late Virgil and Mary Wise Hair, was born on April 25, 1938 in Prosperity, SC. She entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, South Carolina.

Daisy, a graduate of Gallman High school, later received training as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Newberry Memorial Hospital. She was employed at Newberry Memorial Hospital for over 25 years in the Newborn Nursery and retired in 2002.

Mrs. Swittenburg, with her unwavering faith in God, was a member of Mt Moriah AME Church for over 40 years. She served on various auxiliaries: Usher board, Steward Board, Senior Musical Choir, Evergreen Garden Club, Woman’s Home Aid Society # 23, Pulpit Aid and Missionary up until 2014. In addition to her church responsibilities, she was one of the original members of the Newberry County Gospel Mass Choir for many years. In the past, she also serve as the President of the Prosperity Branch NAACP and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

"I love you to the bone", is how she expressed her love to her family and friends. If you heard these words, you were fortunate. She truly loved her family and friends unconditionally.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious and loving memories include her husband, Forrest Swittenburg Jr. of the home; three daughters, Patricia Ann Swittenburg of Philadelphia, PA, Adrienne Swittenburg of the home , Joyce D Boatwright(Desmond) of Hopkins, SC.; three grandchildren, Imani Boatwright, Ashanti Boatwright and Desmond N Boatwright of Hopkins, SC; three brothers, Carl Hare(Hazel) of New Jersey, Jim Hare(Donna)of Collegeville, PA and Jonathan Hare of Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Mary Ethel Gray(Joseph) of Philadelphia, PA, Annie Tobe of New Jersey and Loretta Sheldon(Ronald, Sr.) Pennsauken, NJ; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home (135 Swittenburg Drive, Prosperity, SC).

Funeral service and burial will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Mount Moriah AME Church (viewing one hour prior to the service).
