Mrs. Dora Mae Brown Stephens was born September 30, 1934 to the late Mr. Willie Brown and Mrs. Maybelle Moon Brown.  She entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Prisma Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, SC. 

She was affectionally known by “Dut” by her husband and “Ma’Me” by her children and grandchildren. 

She attended the public schools of Newberry County. She was a former employee of The Lowman Home of White Rock, SC as a Nursing Assistant until her health declined. 

Mrs. Stephens was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church of Prosperity, SC before her health declined.  She served on the Pastor’s Wife Auxiliaries, Deconess, Missionary Society, Assistant leader of the Usher Board Choir, Captain of the May Missionary, Chair Person of the May Building Fund Committee, Former Deaconess Committee, Woman’s Home Aid Society Lodge # 23 and she was the Senior Advisor of CPG Outreach Ministries serving Newberry and Spartanburg Counties. 

She was an avid fan of the Golden State Warriors. 

Mrs. Stephens was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Bennie Stephens, Jr.; three sons; Mr. Clarence, James Willie and Olin Stephens; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Jean Stephens; one son-in-law, Mr. Raphord Pitts; one brother, Mr. Odus Lee Brown; two sisters, Mrs. Glady Wise and Mrs. Willie Mae Kibler. 

Those who celebrate her life and cherish loving memories include, four sons; Mr. Elbert Stephens (Jill) of Prosperity, SC, Mr. Jerry Stephens (Mary), of Monetta,SC , Mr. Henry Stephens, Sr. (Rhonda) and Mr. Ricky Todd Stephens of the home; two daughters; Ms. Lorine F. Stephens (Anthony) and Ms. Cora Mae Stephens of Prosperity, SC; one God-Daughter, Mrs. Willette Bennett of Washington, DC; a God-Son, Rev. Paul Whitener of Maybinton, SC; a daughter in law,  Mattie Stephens ; one son-in-law, Mr. Louis Pitts of Prosperity, SC; eighteen grandchildren, including four devoted granddaughters, Minister Crystal Pitts Glenn (John) and Shirdorian Stripling (Eric) of Spartanburg, SC, Shironda Stephens (Mike) and Imani Stephens of Columbia SC; five devoted grandsons, Henry Stephens, Jr. (Daruis) of Columbia SC, Maurice Cannon (Brenda), Cordera Pitts (Deveney) and Jonah Glenn of Spartanburg SC Cortevis Stephens, who reared in the home; sixteen great; grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Lee Stephens of Prosperity SC; one brother, Mr. Ralph Brown of Newberry, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eva Mae Brown of Prosperity, SC and Mrs. Rozelle Lindsay of Columbia SC; four devoted nieces, Ella Mae Mitchell, Linda Bates, Matilda Lindler of Prosperity, SC and Martha Dozier of Batesburg, SC; one devoted nephew, Larry Stephens of Columbia SC; a devoted family friend, Dr. Oscar Lovelace (Lovelace Family Medical Center) and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. 

The family will receive friends at the home of 26 BENNIE STEPHENS, JR Road, PROSPERITY, SC. 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church in Prosperity, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
