Ms. Ralphine Wright Brown

Ms. Ralphine Wright Brown, affectionately known as “Red”, daughter of the late Maggie L. Hill and the late Major Burton, was born June 15, 1941, in Newberry, SC. She entered into Eternal rest on September 15, 2017, at her home in Columbia, SC. She was reared in the home of her maternal grandparents, the late Adeline and George Lindsay, Sr.

She attended the public schools of Newberry County. Upon completing High School, she relocated to Bridgeport, CT, and married and became the mother of two beautiful children.

Ralphine was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. Upon returning to Columbia, SC, she earned a license as a LPN. She was a Supervisor at Millennium and employed at Baptist Hospital for twenty-five years and later retired.

She loved the Arts and would travel often to support various groups. She also catered at many venues until her health declined.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish fond memories include her son, Anthony Wright (Margie) of Odenton, MD; daughter, Tracey Wright of Jersey City, NJ; a brother, Odell Hill, Jr. of Ninety Six, SC; a devoted cousin, Larry Lindsay of Newberry, SC; one uncle, Matthew Lindsay of Bridgeport, CT; one aunt, Adeline Hare of Newberry, SC; one niece, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Saint Mary's A.M.E. Church in Newberry, SC.
