Bessie Dean Caldwell a beacon of light, peacefully departed this world on Monday, May 5, 2025. She passed away at White Oak Nursing home surrounded by loved
ones.
Bessie Dean Caldwell affectionately known as " Bess" & "Ma" was born July 20, 1963, to the late Asberry Sr. and Electia Glymph in Pomaria, SC. Bessie is one of ten siblings: (Tommy H. Glymph, Thelma Glymph Goodwin, James "Billy" Glymph, Walter Glymph (Alberta Glymph), George Glymph, Clarence Glymph, Ulysses "Roy' Glymph, Essie Glymph, Asberry Glymph Jr.) Bessie married the love of her life Wilbur Caldwell Sr. in 1955 and their union birthed three boys of the Caldwell legacy: Ronnie Caldwell Sr., Wilbur Caldwell Jr. and Rogdrick Caldwell.
Bess is known as a dedicated and devoted caretaker in her family. Bess is survived by her sons: Wilbur Caldwell Jr. (Cynthia), Rogdrick Caldwell; her grandchildren: Ronnie Caldwell Jr. (Aimee), Rhonda Sims (Jermaine), Roniece Caldwell, Wilbur Caldwell III (Nicole), Alexis Caldwell and Cameron Caldwell; fifteen great grandchildren and devoted friends Cynthia Worthy and Brenda Kinard.
Bess obtained her high school education at Granard High School in Gaffney, SC. After marrying her love, she moved back to Newberry, SC where she began employment with Hales Truck Stop as a cook. After several years with Hales, Bess later started employment at Newberry Mills and retired in the early 1990's with McKechnie Vehicle Components. Bessie was a devoted servant at New Enoree Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess, on the Usher Board and a member of the choir. Bess was a devoted grandmother and spent time helping to raise her grandchildren with love and guidance over the years. When asked, Bess "what was her greatest accomplishment in life?" She immediately responded, "My Family!" We celebrate the life and legacy of Bess, devoted believer, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend!
