Mr. Brisco Carter, Sr., son of the late Mr. Beamon Carter Sr and the late Mrs. Surfina Smith Carter, was born on April 25, 1940, in Pomaria, South Carolina. He entered the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Newberry Memorial Hospital.
He joined St. James AME Church at an early age. He served as Steward Pro-Tem, Lay President, Sons of Allen President, and St. James AME Church Male Choir President; he’s the definition of a true worshipper. Brisco was dedicated to his church and would minister to individuals through his uplifting songs and praise. He was also a member of the Men of Faith.
He owned and operated Miracle Monument and Carter’s Logging and worked as a forklift driver at PCA for many years. Family was essential to him, and he had a quiet spirit.
Mr. Carter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carrie Mae Mangum Carter, sister Ruth Brown, and brothers Beamon Carter, Jr., Thomas Carter, and Roger "Butch" Carter.
Surviving are four sons, Brisco (Pamela) Carter of Saluda, SC; Bobby (Alicia) Carter of Newberry, SC; Tony (Vickie) Carter of Irmo, SC; Tobie L. Carter of Newberry, SC; One sister Donna Carter Maybin of Newberry, SC; 9 grandchildren, Dominique Carter, Tiven L. Carter, Tatyana Carter, Hikeem Land, Radiance Gorie, Chicora Gorie, Hercules Etheredge, Carkeeta Lewis, Amicia Jackson; 12 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Joe Ellen (Darryl) Small of Newberry, SC, and Loretta Carter of Newberry, SC, devoted nieces, Margo and Charesse Whitener and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation Sunday July 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral Service 1:00 pm Monday July 15, 2024 at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at St. James AME Church Cemetery in Pomaria, SC.
