Ms. Dorothy Lee (Coleman) Clark, affectionately known to so many as Ms. Dot, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2025. Dorothy, the 1st born child of the late Johnnie Coleman and Mary Myers (Coleman) Sanders, was born on July 21, 1932, in Newberry, SC where she attended school.
She traveled throughout the United States as a military wife for 19 years before returning home to Newberry, SC where after working she furthered her education attending Midlands Technical College and receiving certification as a Licensed Dietician. Ms. Dot was employed at Jesse Frank Hawkins Nursing Home for 22 years as a licensed dietician and later a supervisor and eventually retired in 2004.
Dorothy had love for her children but each one of her grandchildren brought a big smile to her face and so much joy, love and warmth to her heart as “her babies and her bosses”. Her love of playing bingo, the Dallas Cowboys, as well as cooking her macaroni and cheese for all of the grandchildren and baking any type of cake for her family and friends as they requested was special to her.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Arby Ernest Lagroon and Christopher Warren Williams in addition to her 2 adored sisters, Ann Stewart and Emma Thompson.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory 4 daughters, Margaret Ann Watson of Newberry, SC, Patricia (Pat) Yvonne Lagroon of Dublin, GA, Millicent (Millie) Clark Williams of Columbia, SC, and Deirdre (DeeDee) Clark of Freemont, CA; 2 sons, Ernest (Ernie) Clark Jr. of Newberry, SC and Eric Clark (Veronica) of Simpsonville, SC, 12 grandchildren (1 was reared in her home) , 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She has left a legacy of love, dedication and strength that will always be remembered by her loved ones.
A special thanks to caregivers, Amauri Williams (great granddaughter), Sandra Murray and April Young for the love and thoughtfulness you shared with her.
