Elbert Stephens Obituary

Mr. Elbert Stephens, ("Elb" )  was born in Prosperity, SC to the late Rev. Bennie Stephens Jr. and Mrs. Dora Mae Brown Stephens.

Mr. Stephens was educated in the Newberry, SC County Public School. He began his career as a mechanic with Georgia- Pacific of Prosperity, SC for more than 40 years until he retired.

Mr. Stephens was a faithful and dedicated member of Lower Mt. Olive A.M.E Church of Prosperity, SC where he served on the Trustee Board, Men Aid Society #14, and the Male Choir.

"Elb" had a passion for shopping, fishing and love to entertain his family and friends by frying fish. He was well known in the community and all areas, with a giving heart full of wisdom, grace and energy. He inspired many and was well loved and respected by everyone along his journey.

Mr. Stephens was predeceased by his father and mother, Rev. Bennie Stephens Jr. and Mrs. Dora Mae Brown Stephens; Three brothers: Clarence, James Willie and Mr. Olin Stephens; A sister: Mrs. Shirley Jean Stephens Pitts; A brother-n-law: Mr. Raphord Pitts.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children; one daughter, Ms. Fredrina Stephens, of Aiken, SC and one son, Mr. Scottie Stephens of Newberry, SC. Three Brothers; Mr. Jerry Stephens (Mary), of Monetta, SC, Mr. Henry Stephens Sr. (Rhonda) and Mr. Ricky Stephens, Prosperity, SC. two sisters: Ms. Lorine F. Stephens (Anthony) and Ms. Cora Mae Stephens, of Prosperity, SC; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildrens. a god-sister: Mrs. Willette Bennett, of Washington, SC ; a brother-n-law: Mr. Louis Pitts, of Prosperity, SC; two aunts: Mrs. Eva Mae Brown, of Prosperity, SC and Mrs. Rozell Lindsay, of Columbia, SC; one uncle: Mr. Ralph Brown, of Newberry, SC; A companion friend; Ms. Jill Jeter, of Union, SC. A devoted niece; Minister Crystal Pitts Glenn (John), of Spartanburg, SC. A devoted nephew: Mr. Cortevis Stephens of Prosperity, SC; two devoted friends, Mr. Randy Stoudemire and Tank Trapp ; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Visitation Monday June 21, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

Graveside Funeral Service 11:00 am Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Lower Mount Olive AME Church.
