Mr. Forest Werts Jr., beloved son of the late Forest Werts Sr., and Inez Perry Werts was born May 4, 1948 in Newberry, South Carolina.
He entered eternal rest on Monday, August 22, 2022 at his home.
Mr. Werts was a faithful member and Trustee of Welch Zion Baptist Church. He was employed with Kraft Heinz and retired after 34 years of service. Mr. Werts was the founder of Werts/ Wertz family reunion and past president of Wilson, Lake and Herbert Newberry Chapter family reunion and the owner of Werts Traveling. He loved his family, traveling, fishing and sitting on the porch, but above all, Forest loved God.
Mr. Werts was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah A. Werts; son, John Thomas Werts and his twin brother, Horace Werts.
Surviving are his sons, Forrest (Tammy) Werts, Edward Bernard (Octavia) Werts, Anthony Tyrone Werts and Anthony (Latwisse) Martin all of Newberry, SC; daughters, Shonda (Cecil) Caldwell and Tiffiney Monique Baxter of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Martin of Newberry, SC and Allyson Nelson of Piedmont, Alabama; a sister, Linda (Jeff) Conway of Clinton, SC; brothers, Harry (Shirley) Werts of Newberry, SC and Larry (Kathy) Werts of Stone Mountain, GA; eight grandchildren, Demetrius Werts, Ja’Ceree Caldwell, Yafari Werts, Jamaree Caldwell, Cecil “CJ” Caldwell, Laquesha Morris, Shotora Morris and Shakelia Morris; 8 great grandchildren; one aunt, Mary Mack; 3 brothers in law, 4 sisters in law; a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends, Leroy Miller, Ed Hunter, Calvin Davis, J.C. Sundley, Curtis Gary and James Werts.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 1 to 6 pm in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St. Newberry, SC 29108
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1501 College St, Newberry, SC 29108.
Interment will follow at Welch Zion Baptist Church.
