James William Sanders

Mr. James William “Freck” Sanders, 1109 Turner St, Newberry, SC, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at his home. He was the son of Ms. Lillie Mae Sanders.

He attended Drayton Street, Rikard, and Mid Carolina High School. James retired from maintenance at Georgia Pacific after many years. He loved fishing his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and sitting on the front porch.

James was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie, Eula Mae, and Dot, two brothers, Willie Cooper (Sonny), and stepmother, Lottie Mae Cooper.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish his precious memories are his loving and devoted wife, Teresa Koon Sanders; two daughters, Angela Ruff (Barry) and Tasha Sanders; three sons, James Sanders Jr., J’Monte Sanders, and Kenny Ruff; two brothers, Raymond Sanders (Rosene) and Acie Sanders (Angela); one sister, Shirley Sanders. Seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a devoted son-in-law, Barry Richey, one devoted nephew Michael Koon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held 1-5pm Thursday, June 18, 2026, Wilson Funeral Home, Newberry, SC.

Funeral service will be conducted 2pm Friday, June 19, 2026, Saint James AME Church, Pomaria, SC 29126

Interment will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens Newberry, SC.
