Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 7, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on December 23, 1954, in Clinton, South Carolina, to the late Lou Wash Williams and Elizabeth Davis Williams.
Mary was a woman of deep faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and community. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 46 years, Mr. Nathaniel Taylor, Jr., and a proud and loving mother to her three children: Natashala James (Christopher) of Indian Land, SC, Natoya Taylor (Cedric Gibson) of Lexington, SC, and Leon Taylor (Jamie) of Fountain Inn, SC.
She cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, leaving behind six adored grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved and cared for as if they were her own children.
Mary’s love and guidance extended to her siblings: Tommy (Joann) Williams of Clinton, SC, Linda (Willie) Hunter of Laurens, SC, Samuel (Lisa) Williams of Little Mountain, SC, and Virginia Turner of Clinton, SC. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Miller, Jr., and her sister, Annie Mae Smith.
She shared a close bond with her sister-in-law, Linda Langford of Newberry, whom she considered a sister, and her lifelong best friend, Mahala Henderson of Whitmire, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end.
Mary accepted Christ at a young age and joined Little River Baptist Church in Kinards, SC. Later in life, she became a member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church in Prosperity, SC, where she worshiped alongside her husband.
An active and dedicated member of her community, Mary was a proud member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of Maridians Chapter 274, and the Women’s Aide Society #66. Her life was a testament to service, faith, and love. Her warm smile, kind heart, and nurturing spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Mary Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
