Minnie Smith Douglas - Goodman, was born on April 15, 1922. She was born in Newberry County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Sol and Minnie E. Smith. Minnie married Freddie Abraham Douglas in 1939. From that union 4 children, Bobby, Reba, Freddie Jr., and Virgil were born. In 1964 she relocated to New Jersey, where she met and married Henry Goodman. In 1977 Minnie and Henry relocated to Newberry South Carolina. Minnie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a deaconess, and a member of the Ladies’ Aide Society Lodge 42.
On Monday, March 15, 2021 she departed this life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Goodman; sons Bobby Douglas, Freddie Douglas Jr, sisters; Surfina S. Carter, Annie Smith- Germany, Elizabeth Smith-Brooks; brothers; John W. Smith, James Sol Smith; and grandson; Kirk Douglas.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Reba (Roy) Ivey, Simpsonville, South Carolina, a son Virgil (JoAnn) Douglas, Creedmoor, North Carolina; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday March 24, 2021 at Werts Cemetery.
