Mr. Clyde Jessie, son of the late Mr. Johnny “Tobe” Jessie and the late Mrs. Lola Leaks Jessie, was born on August 30, 1938, in Chappells, South Carolina. He entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the Hospice House, Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Greenwood, South Carolina.
He was a member of Scurry Spring Hill Baptist Church, until he could no longer attend. He honorably served in the United States Army for 21 years and was a retired Veteran. He loved God, his family, friends, fishing, gardening, upholstery and making people laugh. Clyde also loved Rock & Roll music, enjoyed playing the guitar and the keyboard and he was a member of a Band and their hit was "Freight train" in 1960.
He was a devoted husband to the late Sieglinde Jessie. They were married for 32 years. He never found another love. Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories are two daughters, Tamara “Tami” I. Brechtel of Greenwood, South Carolina and Diana F. Jessie of Bedford, Texas; one granddaughter, Tyquanda “Ty” Felton; three-great grandchildren, Talia Cynthia Gilliam, Aletta Tamara Gilliam and Garrett Jovan “Xavian” Gilliam of Roselle, Illinois; one brother, William J. “Bill” Jessie of Greenwood, South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy “Doll” Hadden and Shirley “Sheby” Ghee, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Scurry Spring Hill Baptist Church, Chappells, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will be Friday, July 6, 2018, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery (350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562).
