Mr. David Lee Austin, 85, fondly called "Jook" was born on October 23, 1935, in Prosperity, SC to the late Robert Lee Austin and Stella DeWalt.
He attended the public schools of Newberry County and at an early age he joined Mt. Moriah AME Church in Prosperity. Mr. Austin worked for many years at Kendall Mills and Eagle Construction.
He will be remembered for planting his garden and how he loved to watch baseball games and cowboy movies.
Formerly of Prosperity, after his health declined, he resided at Brian's Residential Care in Branchville, SC. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal life on Friday, February 19, 2021, at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded to heaven by sons; Stanley A. Austin and David Dominick, daughter; Velma Jean "Fat" Austin, grandson; Johnathan Lindler, and great granddaughter; Christyanna Austin.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memories are his wife Christine Dominick Austin of Prosperity, SC, three daughters; Debra Graham of Columbia, SC, Ethel Mae (John Henry) Lindler of Prosperity, SC and Annie Kidd (Gene) of Coatesville, PA, one son; Lewis Dominick (Lucy) of Newberry, SC, two sisters; Lillie Mae Lindsay and Vera Gallman, four aunts, two uncles, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, one daughter-in-law; Velma Jean Mason Austin, eight grandchildren, 38 great granchildren, and three great great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.
Viewing for Mr. Austin will be Thursday February 25, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
