Deacon Elbert Dreher, 93, born July 22, 1932, to the late Willie Haskell Lee Dreher & Willie Mae Inez Dreher. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at his home.
Elbert was preceded in death by his loving parents, his beloved wife of 73 years, Myrlain Dreher, his brothers Bernard Dreher, John Wesley Dreher, Robert Dreher, Carl Dreher, Thurnell Dreher & Marshall Dreher.
Those who celebrate and cherish his life include his seven children Mack A Dreher (Kaye), Stella D. Mayers, Catha Wise (Larry), Linda Bowers (Jerry), Raynard Dreher (Nancy), Elmer Dreher (Annette) & Bryant Dreher (Pamela).
Brothers: Henry Dreher of Chapin SC, Gary Dreher(Ruby) of Chapin SC, and Lawrence Dreher (Bertina) Clinton MD.
Brothers-in-law: Donald Sulton (Rosemary) of Little Mountain SC & Ronald Sulton (Jennifer) of Blythewood, SC.
Sisters: ShaMaria Reeves (Roland) of Fayetteville NC, Constance Mayers (O'Neal) of Chapin SC, Vera Dreher Gallman of Prosperity SC.
Grandchildren LaShoun Mayers Wright (Thomas), LaVette Dreher, Madrick Dreher, Stephanie Kessler(Andre'), Alicia Mayers (Trandy), Latif Bowers (Cherry), Dewayne Wise (Robin), Earnest Mayers Jr. (Vickie), Anthony Taylor (Felicia), Kevin Dreher (Camisha), Erica Grant (Bruce), Ricky Dreher(Tonya), Eric Dreher, LaToya Dreher, Melissa Campbell (James), Shamark Wicker (Jessie), Zachary Dreher, Devon Dreher, Lamont Wicker, Meeka Wicker, Authur Lawrence, April McCoy, Ashlyn Bracone, and Alexis Prijoles.
Sixty great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A host of special adopted children, nieces, nephews cousins and close friends.
He was an honorary father, grandfather and uncle to many. He was affectionately known as "wild Bill'!
Elbert was a dedicated member of the church and in the community. He accepted Christ at a very young age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Chapin, SC where he served faithfully as a Deacon for many years.
Elbert worked for Thurston Motor Lines and Brown Motor Company for 45 years. After retirement, he started his own business, Dreher Sanition, which served the community for over 25 years.
Elbert loved to travel, he loved to dance, he loved to smile. He loved his family and didn't know a stranger. He was a strong man with an even bigger heart. He lived a life full of joy, love, dedication and remarkable strength. He will live forever in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing this great man.
Visitation will be held 1-5pm Thursday March 12, 2026, Wilson Funeral Home Newberry, SC.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Friday March13, 2026 Mt. Zion Baptist Church Chapin, SC.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
