Mr. Henry Davenport Obituary

Mr. Henry Sam Davenport, affectionately known as “Bo Sam” was born January 4, 1953, in Prosperity, South Carolina to the late Mr. S.Q. Davenport and the late Mrs. Mildred Davenport. Henry entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry, South Carolina.

At a very early age, Henry joined Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Little Mountain, South Carolina. He was a member of the Sons of Aid Society Lodge #57. Henry worked in the construction field and was a very skilled worker in various jobs, until his health declined.

Mr. Henry Sam Davenport was predeceased by three brothers, Bobby, Larry and James Frank Davenport and one sister, Anna Davenport Watson.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish loving memories include one son, Henry Lee Davenport of Columbia, S.C.; one daughter, Samantha Mildred Giddens of Norristown, P.A.; one grandson, Ty’Jon Giddens of Norristown, P.A. who reared in the home; three brothers, Charles Edward Davenport and Sammie Lee Davenport of Norristown who reared in the home and Arthur Ray Davenport of Prosperity, S.C.; three sisters, Sadie Gallman, Rosette Gallman (Allen) and Claudia Clark (Sylvester) all of Prosperity, S.C.; cousin, Velma Wise, of Prosperity, S.C.; six aunts; one brother-in-law, James Watson, of Prosperity, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. 

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Claudia Clark (Sylvester), 310 Stanza Road in Prosperity, SC.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Saint Matthew Baptist Church, 61 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC.
