Mr. Isaiah McMorris of 513 Mellwood Drive , Piedmont, SC died Tuesday August 20, 2024 at Prisma Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC. He was born in Newberry, SC on May 11, 1959 and was raised in the home of his grandparents, the late Rev. Eugene and Willie Mean McMorris. He was the biological son of the late Sallie Mae McMorris Byrd.
Isaiah attended Newberry High School, in Newberry, SC. He worked with Propane Gas for twenty years. He retired from Michelin Tire in Piedmont, SC as a test driver.
Isaiah was predeceased by his parents, Lewis Smith and Sallie Mae McMorris; his brothers, Charles D. Byrd Jr .and James E. Byrd.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his devoted wife, Rose Mary McMorris; a devoted brother-in-law, Tyrone (Fannie) Pitts; daughters, Konova Jean Maybin of Newberry, SC and Denise Michelle Bookman of Columbia, SC; a son, Carlos Antwane Hicks of Pomaria, SC; a granddaughter Morgan Gilliam of Columbia, SC; sisters, Fannie Mae Mcmorris Byrd of Greenville, SC, Carolyn Denise Byrd Mayo of Easley, SC; a loving sister-in-law, Lessie Ree (William) Lucas of Fayettville, NC; brothers, Joseph (Annie Pearl) McMorris of Newberry, SC, Melvin Werts of Newberry, SC and Eric S. Byrd of Columbia< SC; an aunt, Essie Perkins (the only surviving child of Rev, William and Fannie Mae McMorris); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation Saturday August 24, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral Service 2:00 pm August 25, 2024 at St. Vaughnville Baptist Church, 2127 Salter Rd. Chappells, SC.
Interment following the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 10922 SC-39, Cross Hill, SC.
The family will receive visitors at 2805 Hunt Ave. Newberry, SC.
