Mr. Jacob W. Young

“For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith". II Timothy 4: 6-7

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, the angels descended to earth to take our dear husband, father, brother, uncle and friend home to rest with loved ones gone on before him.  Jacob W. Young, 68, departed this earthly life and entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the home of his daughter.

Jacob was born March 31, 1953 to the late Mr. Richard Young and Mrs. Princetta Wise Young. He was a 1971 graduate of Mid Carolina High School. He loved watching football especially the Dallas Cowboys. Cooking on the grill and farming were his hobbies until his health started declining.

He was a member of Shiloh A. M. E. Church in Prosperity, SC, and was a former employee of Georgia- Pacific before his retirement.

He was predeceased in death by three sisters, Minnie Y. Boyd, Margaret Y. Smith and Grace Y. Miller and one brother, Willie Frank Young.

Those left to cherish loving memories include his wife, Connie Wicker Young; three daughters, Katrena Young Basnight (Fred), Kimberly Young of Elgin, SC, Keisha Young (Isaac) of New Braunfels, Texas; one son, Jacob Terrell Young of Newberry, SC; two sisters, Elizabeth Small (Sam) of Winnsboro, SC and Dorothy Mitchell (George) of Newberry, SC; two brothers, Grover C. Young of Orange, Virginia and Charles Young (Cassandra) of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren, Keyonia, Kierra, Ebony, Tiauni, Kamya, A. J., Keasia and Jayden; one great grand, Laylah; one uncle, Johnny Young of Greensboro, NC;  five brothers in law, Willie Boyd, John Smith,  Dr. Jackie Miller, Hubert Wicker and Gallman Wicker (Hazel); a devoted caregiver, S’ade Spencer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom grieve his departure, but know he is now resting with the Lord.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 pm on  Friday, March 4, 2022 at Shiloh AME Church, 431 Shiloh St, Prosperity, SC.  Rev. Michael Hill, Pastor and Rev. Horace Wilson, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
