Mr. James Edward Lindsay affectionally known as “Speck” of 2543 Armfield Avenue of Newberry, SC passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Newberry Hospital in Newberry, SC. He was born in Newberry, SC on September 20, 1951 to the late Mr. Benjamin Smith and the late Mrs. Laura Mae Lindsay Smith.
He was retired from Newberry College.
Mr. Lindsay was predeceased by his brother, John Smith; aunts, Dorothy Lindsay, Peggy Wade, Ollie Mae Ellison; uncles, Douglas McArthur Lindsay, Willie Lindsay; and sister-in-law, Bobby Joe Lindsay.
Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories include nine brothers, Harry Lindsay, Curtis Lindsay (Shirley), Tommy Lindsay (Robin), McArthur Lindsay, Joseph Smith, Kevin Smith (Eloise), Richard Smith (Jaqueline), Greg Smith and Jeffrey Smith all of Newberry, SC; four sisters, Janice Mathis (Bobby), Margaret Smith, Josephine Robinson (Otis) of Newberry, SC, JoAnn Smith (Randy) of Irmo, SC; one aunt, Rebecca L. Rollins of Richmond, VA; uncles, Jimmy Lindsay (Mamie) of Newberry, SC and Willie Fred Lindsay of Alexander, VA; fifteen nieces, twenty-five nephews, and a host of great nephews and great nieces, cousins and friends including special friends, Kenny Wayne Davis, Mary Aull and Alex Boyd.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Werts Cemetery in Newberry, SC. Due to current health concerns, the family asks that you wear a mask and observe social distancing requirements.
