Mr. Joseph E. Sims

Mr. Joseph Sims, 73, son of Dorothy Mae Wheeler and the late James Wheeler Jr., was born March 10, 1950 in Newberry County. He departed this life on Monday, April 10, 2023 at his home.

He was predeceased by his wife Mrs. Patricia Ann Nelson Sims.

Mr. Sims was employed and retired from Oakland Mills.

Those who celebrate his life and cherish loving and precious memories are his mother, Dorothy Mae Wheeler of Prosperity, SC; two daughters, Mary Pat Sims (Jesus Rodriguez) of Batesburg, SC and Thesa Glymph (Carlos) of Newberry, SC; two sons, Jody Sims of Newberry, SC and Jermine Sims of West Chester, NY; eight grandchildren, Jesus Rodriguez Jr. and Mia Rodriguez of Batesburg, SC, Tequria Gallman (Eric)  and Taylor Glymph  of Newberry, SC, G’nay Sims, Niree Sims, Peyton Sims and Jordyn Sims of New York; four great grandchildren, four brothers, Terry Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler, Randy Wheeler of Prosperity, SC and James Sims of Newberry, SC; six sisters, Janie Mae Sims of Prosperity, SC, Peggy Spearman of Lexington, SC, Josephine Wheeler, Jessie Mae Sims and Dottie Lee Gray (Terry) all of Newberry, SC and Jannette W. Simmons (Terrance) of Chapin, SC; three brothers- in- law, four sisters- in- law, one uncle, four aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 2 to 6 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph E. Sims will be conducted on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of Mt. Moriah AME Church, 1628 Ira Kinard Rd, Prosperity, SC 29127.
