Mr. Raphord Pitts was born December 23, 1951, in Prosperity, SC. He entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
Mr. Pitts was a former employee of American Fiber and Finishing, Newberry, SC, for thirty-two years of service and a caretaker of Casabella Gardens, Lake Murray, SC, before his health declined.
He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Eva Mae Mayers Pitts; former wife, Shirley J. Stephens Pitts; five siblings, Jessie P. Bates, Evelyn P. Kinard, Everett “Snip” Pitts, Collie Bates, Jr., and Cleophus Bates; two fathers-inlaw, Rev. Bennie Stephens, Jr., and Frank Gallman; mother-in-law, Fannie Gallman; three brothers-in-law, Danny, Billy and Donald Gallman.
Cherishing his loving memories includes his wife, Darnell Gallman Pitts of the home, daughters, Min. Crystal Pitts Glenn (John), Spartanburg, SC, and Felicia Gallman, Irmo, SC; four grandchildren, Cordera Ra’Shon Pitts (Deveney), Shirdorian Stripling (Eric), Jonah Glenn, Spartanburg, SC, and Jamarion Brown reared in the home; two greatgrandchildren, Daszin Stripling and Xalani Pitts; four sisters, Lottie M. Wallace and Rebecca Pitts, Prosperity, SC, Theresa P. Rikard and Margaret Pitts, Little Mountain, SC; two brothers, Paul Pitts (Olivia), Prosperity, SC, and Lamont Pitts, Columbia, SC; mother-in-law, Mrs. Dora Mae Stephens, Prosperity, SC; eight sisters-in-law, Lorine Stephens, Cora Stephens, Barbara Elkins, Linda Jeter all of Prosperity, SC, Judy Williams (Billy), April Nance, Kathy Wilson and Rhonda Stephens all of Newberry, SC; seven brothers-in-law, Louis Pitts, a lifetime devoted brother/ cousin, Tony Gallman, Elbert Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Olin Stephens, Henry Stephens and Ricky Stephens all of Prosperity, SC; a devoted niece, Marlyn Pitts; two devoted nephews, James Pitts and John “Dino” Pitts; and two devoted friends, John “Joe” Boyd and James Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will sadly miss him.
The family will recieve friends at the home (113 Pitts Road, Little Mountain, SC).
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Lower Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Prosperity, SC (viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
