Mr. Thomas Eugene Flemon 88, affectionately known as "Tee", was born on April 21, 1935 in Pomaria, SC to the late John and Willie Mae Flemon. He departed this life on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Mr. Flemon was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Church in Pomaria, SC, where he served as a member of the Steward Board. He was educated in the Newberry County School District, where he attended Hope School. He retired from Georgia-Pacific in 2000, after providing 25 years of service.
Mr. Flemon was an avid baseball fan and he loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and Clemson Tigers. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastimes included baseball games, cooking, fishing, hunting and gardening. He will always be remembered by his infectious smile.
Mr. Flemon was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Marion Mae Bates Flemon and two daughters Gwendolyn M. and Marlette M. Flemon.
He leaves to cherish his precious life and loving memory, his children: Thomas Jr. (Diane) Bates of Pomaria, SC, John Earl Flemon of New Albany, OH, Melvin (Harriett) Flemon of Chapin, SC, Derrick (Laura) Flemon of Little Mountain, SC, Thomasena (Matthew) Brown of Newberry, SC, Patricia (Spencer) Coleman of Newberry, SC, Deborah Eubanks of Newberry, SC, Bridgette M. Wadsworth of Newberry, SC, and Beverly Flemon of Pomaria, SC; He leaves to mourn his beloved twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tenetha Hall of Columbia, SC and Hattie Heller of Columbus, OH; devoted and cherished friend, Sim Heller, Jr. of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday October 4, 2023 in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday October 5, 2023 at St. Paul AME Church 1945 Hope Station Rd. Pomaria, SC.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
