Mr. Ulysses Jackson was born May 11, 1952 to the late Mamie Dorley Jackson and Colie Jackson Sr. Ulysses entered eternal rest peacefully at his home August 14, 2022.
Mr. Jackson, also Known as “Cboy,” started working in the logging business at a very early age and continued for years after. Ulysses was known to get up early in the morning to visit his family on weekends, just to wake them up and always had a nickname for family members. He loved watching cowboy movies and one of the movies he loved was “LIFE,” with Bernie Mack. We were fortunate to have a birthday party/ parade for Ulysses on May 8, 2022. We thank God for those who were able to come out to help us celebrate his 70th birthday. It is always a pleasure to gather during happy occasions.
Ulysses was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis G. Bates; three sisters, Mary Jackson, Azalee Dominick and Vinnie Dominick; four brothers, Colie Jackson Jr, Willie Jackson, Freddie Jackson and Thomas Jackson.
He leaves to cherish precious memories a loving and devoted wife of over 45 years, Sally A. Bates-Jackson; a daughter, CL Bates-Jackson; a son, Johnny S. Bates; seven grandchildren, Jimmy D. Bates, Shawnda Davenport and Tyrus Sims, who were raised in the home, Nateisha Mathis, Taevion Wicker, Serayah Wicker and Tahnayn Wells; two great grandchildren, Javion Williams and Kaycen Simms; two sisters, Elizabeth Brown and Janie Mae G. (Aaron) Dewalt; three brothers-in-law, Henry Jones, Raymond Bates and Emory (Dorothy) Bates; a close friend David Wicker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday August 17, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Newberry Firehouse and Conference Center.
Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
