Mrs. Carrie Mae Mangum Carter, daughter of the late Mr. Clarence and Willie Mae Wilson Mangum, was born on May 9, 1942, in Newberry County, South Carolina. She entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at her home.
She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church where she joined at a early age, she served on several auxiliaries in the church. She was employed at the Newberry County Public Schools for 36+ years as a Teacher’s Assistant at Speer Street and Newberry Elementary School and was a devoted school bus driver. She also worked part-time at Senior Catering and Dairy Queen. She was a graduate of the Gallman High School Class of 1960. Continued her education and graduated from Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill, SC. She was a member of the Women’s Home Aid Society Lodge No. 42, Rosette's Bridge Club, and past vice-president of Wilson Lake Herbert Family Reunion Chapter, Newberry, SC.
Education and family were very important to her along with working with kids. She had a beautiful smile and a quiet spirit.
Predeceased by her brother Clarence Mangum, Jr.; nephew John Anthony Mangum.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband of 59 years, Brisco Carter, Sr. four sons, Brisco (Pamela) Carter, Jr., Saluda, SC; Bobby (Alicia) Carter, Newberry, SC; Tony A. (Vickie) Carter, Irmo, SC; Tobie L. Carter, Newberry, SC. sister, Joe E (Darryl) Small , Newberry, SC; 9 grandchildren, Dominique Carter, Tiven L. Carter, Tatyana Carter, Hikeem Land, Radiance Gorie, Chicora Gorie, Hercules Etheridge, Carkeeta Lewis, Amicia Jackson; 11 great-grandchildren , Sisters-In-Law Donna Maybin, Loretta Carter, Brother-In-Law Marion Brown, devoted nieces, Margo and Charesse Whitener and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday October 15, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday October 16, 2022 at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Newberry, SC.
Interment following the service at St. James AME Church in Pomaria, SC.
There will be a repass, following Interment at St. Matthew Baptist Church.
