Mrs. Jestine Tobe

Jestine Cannon Tobe, 97, transitioned from labor to reward on April 18, 2022 at her home in Little Mountain, SC. She was born on June 20, 1924 to the late Will and Marie (Caughman) Cannon.

She was raised in Little Mountain, SC where she also attended the public school. She was a  very devoted wife and loving mother. She was also a housekeeper and nanny.

She accepted the Lord at an early age and was a devoted member at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chapin, SC. Where she served faithfully as a deaconess, missionary, pulpit aid member, senior choir member, and revival kitchen committee member. She was also willing to encourage and guide the young people to church in the community. 
For all who knew her Sis. Tobe loved the Lord and she was something serious in the kitchen.. If  baking Sweet Potato Pies, Seven Up Pound Cake and Macaroni and Cheese could reserve a space in heaven, her heavenly reservation was made a long long long time ago.

Jestine birthed and raised 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Marie Cannon; two sisters, Georgie and Cleo Cannon; one brother, Nathaniel Cannon; five sons, Julius Tobe, J.B. Tobe, Alex Tobe, Fabian Ruff, Cleveland Tobe; three daughters, Mary Lou Thompson, Brenda Bowers, and Jacqueline Ramage(Vernard).

Loving memories will be cherished forever by a devoted sister, Betty Mayers; three beautiful daughters, Evelyne Caldwell, Margaret Oxner, both of Little Mountain, SC and Dena (Calvin) Cleaves of Murfreesboro, TN; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, 2 great great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 1 to 4 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm  in the sanctuary of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 110 Broomstraw Rd, Chapin, SC 29036. Rev. Kevin Sheppard, Pastor.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
