Loretta Freeman Counts, lovingly referred to as “Lo” was a long-time resident of Pomaria. She was born April 14, 1950 to the late Beatrice Freeman Williams and Claude Freeman in Pomaria, SC. She was educated in the public schools of Newberry County.
She was a member Saint Mark A.M.E. Church in Pomaria and was a member of the Woman’s Home Aid Society Lodge # 5.
She was predeceased by her spouse, Eddie Counts; and siblings Sonnie Cleo Freeman and Alexander Freeman.
Prior to enjoying retirement, Loretta was employed by Newberry Disability & Special Needs as a Direct Support Professional. Loretta departed life on Thursday, August 30, 2018, in Columbia SC. Loretta is survived by three daughters; Shonda Counts, Venedia Counts and Regina (Rochelle) Crosby; four grandchildren, Brehunna Austin, Jayllen Crosby, Chezney Crosby and Aahron “AJ” Crosby; and nieces, Tasha N. Blakly, Sonja Freeman, Hope Williams, Pasty Ann Harmon, Ann Spruill and Alexandria Freeman; nephews, Rev. Vordry Freeman, Van Freeman and Steve Blount; cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Saint Mark A.M.E Church in Pomaria, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
