Mrs. Marion Mae Bates Flemon 81, was born on November 2, 1941 in Pomaria, SC to the late James Bates and Bessie Counts Mayers. On Tuesday morning March 14, 2023, she entered eternal rest.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Pomaria, SC and a member of the Women Aid Society Lodge #34. Marion was educated in Newberry County School District. Retired from Mosley Jewelers, also, the Lowman Home in White Rock, SC. Mother Marion was a woman that loved her children, grand and great grand-children, pretty clothes, perfume, a tidy home, preparing meals, the ball games, good music, dancing and traveling.
Mother Marion was a woman that wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and let you know how she felt. She didn’t tolerate being disrespected. She enjoyed talking on the phone with Sister Barbara (Fatty), Friend Sister Lizzie Jimerson and her son Earl during her stay at J. F. Hawkins Nursing and Rehab Facility. She looked forward to seeing her Daughter in Law Diane, because she knew and relied on her (treats and getting her hair on point). Mother Marion loved everybody until you did something to upset her. Marion had a very wise mother whom she would often quote a lot of her sayings. She was 81 yrs old and didn’t forget too much, still young in mind and was up on the latest styles until the end.
Mrs. Marion was predeceased by two daughters, Gwendolyn M. Flemon and Marlette M. Flemon, two brothers, Frank H. Hicks, Sr., and Freddie I. Bates.
Those left to cherish her precious life and loving memories include her husband for 63 years, Mr. Thomas Eugene Flemon of Pomaria, SC; four sons, Thomas Bates Flemon, Jr. (Diane) of Pomaria, SC, John Earl Flemon of New Albany, Ohio, Melvin L.
