Mrs. Viola Mozee Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at the day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”

II Timothy 4: 7-8

Mrs. Viola Tobe Mozee, the second of three children, was born on April 18, 1923 to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. John David (Ida Hendrix) Tobe of Pomaria, SC.  She quietly departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge in Columbia, SC.

Although she was a great inspirator, she always found the time for her hobbies.  Her love for crossword puzzles, word search games, bingo and pets were never neglected.  Before her challenge with glaucoma, she could watch “The Price Is Right,” “Lets Make A Deal,” “Jeopardy” and “Wheel Of Fortune” getting most, if not all, of the correct answers.  Her desire to eat vegetables daily, dictated every meal and coffee was a must at breakfast.

Viola joined Gethsemane Baptist Church at an early age.  She attended faithfully, later becoming Mother of the Church.  While attending church before the pandemic, she could be seen speeding out of church on her walker after service many Sundays.  Viola also was a member of the African Protection Burial Lodge #39 for many, many years as well as The Glymphville-Pomaria Senior Club.  Her love for traveling played well in her life until the end.  Her most recent trip was this past July to the mountains in Tennessee, where she had a blast.

Viola was preceded in death by her loving parents, two sisters; Azalee (Nay) Jeter and Lillie Thompson, her husband; Jesse Adam Mozee.

Cherishing her fond memories are her three children; James Arthur Mozee and Betty Ann Mozee of Pomaria, SC and Woodrow (Peggy) Mozee of Union, SC, five grandchildren; Vilarin (Joseph) McGill of Ladson, SC, James McArthur Mozee of Pomaria, SC, Christopher A. Mozee of Seoul, South Korea, April Dionne Butler of Columbia, SC and Vonda Gallman of Union, SC, five great grandchildren; Jocelyn, Kevin, Peyton, Trenton and Sydni, sisters-in-law; Azalena Williams of Brooklyn, NY, Veldria Williams of Newberry, SC and Katherine Griffin of Pomaria, SC, brothers-in-law; James L. Mozee of Charlotte, NC and J.D. Mozee of Pomaria, SC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and unwavering friends.
