Ms. Doris Jean Gallashaw of 1000 Futrell Drive, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina entered into eternal on Saturday, November 9 2019 at Grand Strand Medical Center of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Doris was born in Columbia, South Carolina on February 20, 1947, to the late Mr. George Goodman and the late Mrs. Evelyn Boyd Gantt. She was raised in the home of the late Mr. Charles Duncan (Inez) of Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Doris graduated from Orangeburg –Wilkinson High School. She attended The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York for two years in Nursing. Then, she moved to Little Mountain, SC where she became a deputy for Lexington County Sheriff Department. Doris moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and enrolled in Horry Georgetown Technical College where she received a degree in CPA, Business Degree and a degree in Medical Billing and Coding.
Doris was predeceased by one son, Joseph Ralph Goodman, a devoted companion, Mr.Lucious Gary Bowers and two sisters, Ms. Jackie Marie Pought and Ms. Minnie Gantt.
Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious and loving memories include one son, Kevin Goodman of little Mountain, South Carolina; three daughters, Tanya Campbell (Robert ) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Wanda Campbell of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Benita Wicker of Little Mountain, South Carolina; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one brother, Mr. Jessie James Goodman ( Diane) of Camden, New Jersey; six sisters, Hellen Cannon Smith of Florence, South Carolina, Charlesina Gantt of Newberry, South Carolina, Joann Bowers (Stanley) of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Sadie Gantt of Newberry, South Carolina, Lorraine Speight of Jamestown, North Carolina and Brenda Gantt of Little Mountain, South Carolina; one uncle, Frank Bynum (Melvin) of Chapin South Carolina, five aunts, Celustine (Lewis ) Benson of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Althea Clarkson of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Vangie Curry of Columbia, South Carolina, Marylnn Kelly of Little Mountain, South Carolina, Prudence Williams of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Benita Wicker, 124 Boyd’s Place, Little Mountain.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Saint Mathew Baptist Church, 61 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC. Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery in Newberry, SC.
