Dorothy Lucille Tribble Smith, affectionately known as “Dot”, was born August 1, 1939 to Ulysses and Minnie Lee Tribble in Newberry, SC. She departed her earthly home to enter her heavenly home on Friday, July 28, 2023.
She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC for many years until her health declined and was unable to attend as she wished. Dorothy “Dot” worked various jobs but was known for her love of working with children and spending most of her working years in private childcare.
Our beloved Dot had her share of seeing the world; living in New York, Georgia and Germany. After her travels, Dot made Thomasville her home. She often spoke of how she would come here as a child to visit her aunts, and how much she enjoyed the community. Although Thomasville was home, she had a special place in her heart for Newberry, SC where she remained a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed attending 3rd Sunday August Revival at Belmont Baptist Church as often as possible and staying in touch with family and friends.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Minnie Lee Tribble; her brother, A.C. Tribble and her son, Eugene Smith, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, devoted cousins, Eddie Glenn, Myra Stafford and Ray Gary, and a host of other loving family members.
A Service of Remembrance for Ms. Dorothy Tribble Smith will be conducted on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at noon in the Williams, Wilson, Goudelock Memorial Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St, Newberry, SC 29108.
