Ms. Hazel Clark Obituary

Ms. Hazel Dell Clark entered into the arms of Jesus on Sunday July 12, 2020, at National Health Care of Laurens, South Carolina.  Born March 7, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Elease Clark.  Hazel Dell never met a stranger.  She was well known for her leadership ability, and mentoring skills.  She had a nurturing and kind spirit and was always willing to help whenever needed.

Her formal education was received in the public schools of Newberry County.  Hazel Dell graduated from Newberry High School in 1972.  She went on to matriculate at Johnson C. Smith University, where she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 1974. She was also a member of the A P & B Society #40 and the Home Benefit Society #7.  In 1976, Hazel Dell graduated with her BSW.  She went on to further her education by attending Clemson University, where she received a Master of Arts Degree.  Hazel Dell later completed her education by graduating from the University of South Carolina with her DSW.

Hazel Dell was a devoted and dedicated member of Bush River Baptist Church, where she served as a Trustee, a Sunday school teacher, and other varius committees in the church.

Professionally, Hazel Dell touched many lives throughout her community and employment.  She was a motivational public speaker for different organizations and churches.  Hazel Dell was a Social Worker for Newberry Mental Health and other agencies in Newberry County, and the Department of Social Services in Columbia, SC.  

She was predeseased by a brother, Thomas Clark; and three sisters, Joe Ellen Irby, Doris Oxner and Renethia Grines-Coleman.

Those celebrating her life and cherishing precious and loving memories are: three brothers, Harold S. Clark and Robert L. Whitney both of Newberry SC, and Myles F. Clark (Jessie) of Greenville, SC; two brother -in-laws, George Oxner of Prosperity, SC. and Thomas Coleman Sr. of Newberry SC and numerous nieces, newphews and cousins, all of whom will grieve her passing, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday July 18, 2020  at 10:00 a.m. at Bush River Baptist Church.  Due to the current health crisis, the family ask that everyone where a mask and observe social distancing.
