Ms. Helen Jones

Helen Jones was born on March 25, 1931, in Newberry South Carolina. She was the only child born to Louise (Ruff) and Wallace Jones. Helen accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Matthews AME Church. She attended Graton Street High School. She continued her studies at culinary school. Helen was a cook by profession. In September 1994, Helen retired from Jesse Frank Hawkins Nursing Home after fourteen years of service. Helen loved to cook, and she made the best desserts. She was known for her delicious sweet potato pies. She also loved to walk. She could be spotted headed downtown, on her way to the grocery store or to see her doctor.

Helen was called to eternal rest on September 26, 2021.

She will be missed by all who knew her. Helen leaves to cherish her memory cousins, Verdell Cannon, Angel Cannon, Davela Cannon, and Veda Cannon, as well as a host of beloved relatives and friends. 

Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1-7 pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St. Newberry, SC.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 am on Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, 6875 SC- 219, Newberry, SC 29108.
