Ms. Inez Davis

Miss Inez Davis, beloved daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Scurry Davis and the late Clyde Davis Sr., was born on November 8, 1958 in Newberry County. She passed away on August 25, 2023 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Facility.

Miss Davis attended the public schools of Newberry County and resided at Newberry Disability and Special Needs Board until her health began to fail.  Inez had a beautiful smile and enjoyed helping others. Inez had a love for life and enjoyed traveling. She was a special friend in her home, a daughter, sister and loving aunt. It gave her great pleasure in taking care of her nieces and nephews. Inez aka “Nell or Nail” as she was often called, was very active in the Special Olympics and the Bowling League. Even though she was special, it did not hinder her love and compassion for others.

She was predeceased by her great- grandfather, Elliot Wilson; grandparents, Wade and Lula Mae Wilson Ruff Scurry, Christine Davis and Samuel Johnson; uncles, Roosevelt Fair, Dan Davis, Odell Davis and Thomas C. Junior Scurry; two aunts, Katherine Scurry Chalmers and Lillie Ree Davis; along with her niece, Melissa Raquel Davis- Gary.

Those who cherish her beautiful memories include her mother, Sarah Elizabeth Scurry Davis; siblings, Pauline Davis, her twin brother Joel Davis, Sarah Davis Barcelo and Clyde Davis Jr., all of Newberry, SC, Carolyn Grant of Anderson, SC and Mary (Pastor James) Moses of Clinton, SC; aunts, Rosemary Scurry, Annie Ruth Scurry, Bobbie Jean Scurry, Marie Scurry and Betty Sue Scurry Champ Bell; uncles, Fred Scurry, Rickey Lee Scurry and James H. Scurry and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends who she was raised with and loved dearly.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 1 pm to 6 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Miss Inez Davis will be conducted on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Williams, Wilson and Goudelock Memorial Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St, Newberry, SC.

Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
