Ms. Mollie Lomax Barr, 86 affectionally known as "NUG" daughter of the late Reuben Lomax and Lessie Perry Lomax Farrow was born February 3,1935 in Saluda County, South Carolina. She journeyed to her new home taking a part of our hearts with her on November 21, 2021 at White Oak Manor Nursing Center in Newberry, South Carolina.
Nug attended Bell Street High School in Clinton, South Carolina. She also attended St. John Baptist Church and later joined New Covenant Christian Center in Newberry, South Carolina under the leadership of Bishop Alvin T. McNair.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joel Barr, a sister, Rubye Lee Williams, and a brother Robert Lewis Lomax, Sr.
Those she leaves to celebrate her life are three daughters, Peggy Barr Peoples, Bettie Barr and Brenda Barr all of Newberry, SC; two sons, Joe N. Barr Sr. of Newberry, SC and Jerry (Lottie) Williams of Prosperity, SC; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great- great grandaughter; two sisters, Lonnie Fowler and Janis (Ray) Gary both of Newberry, SC; special friends, George Werts and Carrie Bell Hall, close friends, Jessie Reeder, Bessie Mae Reeder, Polly Ann Brown and Coral Garman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 1 to 7 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at Wilson Funeral Home, 64 Boundary St, Newberry, SC 29108.
Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
