In North Carolina at Vance-Granville, Carolyn studied Business Administration and then later pursued her interest in biblical studies with a degree in Theology at Liberty University. After retiring from her well respected work with North Carolina Central University and Spellman College, Carolyn founded Jesus House of Refuge Ministries with a mission to teach the word of God to all. Carolyn was truly invested in her ministry and the broadcast she created to deliver her sermons encouraging spiritual growth. She was a successful gospel song writer, and she also authored several faith-based books.  Pastor Bell was gifted with many talents, which she used most admirably in service to her faith. She stepped up and followed through on her calling to inspire people to walk closer to Jesus.  Working at times to uplift those struggling, she also aimed particularly to support at-risk women in prayer. Carolyn’s dedication and her desire to bring light to those in need highlighted her generous nature.

Gratitude always filled Carolyn’s heart - she loved celebrating life and all her blessings. She was known for her joyous and unique birthday songs, which she lovingly and often humorously shared. Being gratefully centered, she held a positive outlook. Carolyn adored her family - her precious devotion was clear. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved and especially looked forward to the days spent fishing with her beloved grandsons. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her family. She was the first to step up to cheer everyone on in their endeavors and offered a constant source of support and prayer for all. Carolyn never missed a day sending scripture out for inspiration and always gave the best example of strength and perseverance with her foundation rooted in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.
