Reverend Lare' Williams Obituary

Reverend Lare’ Marzella Weeks-Williams entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. She was born in Fort Bragg, NC, on October 3, 1949, to the late Ret. Sgt. Lewis Emmett Galloway Collins, Sr., and the late Evangelist Mrs. Lucille Womack Collins of Augusta, GA. Lare’ received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration for Fairleigh Dickerson University in Teaneck, New Jersey and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lander University in Greenwood, SC. Lare’ was also pursuing a degree in Theology. Lare’ formerly resided in Teanech, NJ. Lare’ has received recognition for establishing the first Baptist Church for Military Men Abroad at Schwabach, Germany; participation on Project Crack Down in New Jersey with Evangelist Dorothy Norwood, Gospel Extravaganza; Jamaica West Indies for Hurricane Gilbert; and many others. Lare’ was a member of the Voices of Faith musical group of Englewood, NJ, an Eastern Star and Phone Bank Correspondence Coordinator for the Newberry County Democratic Party. Lare’ was very active in the political community of Newberry County, serving with Senator James Lander, Representative Walt McLeod, Chairman of the Newberry County Democratic Party, Carlton Kinard, President of the NAACP Newberry County Branch, and Mrs. Barbara Chapman, Director of the Newberry County Literacy Program. Rev. Williams pastored at St. Matthews A.M.E. Church in Newberry, SC, Paradise A.M.E. Church in Union, SC, Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Little Mountain, SC, Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Pomaria, SC, and Wateree A.M.E. Church in Saluda County. Rev. Williams served as musician for Miller Chapel A.M.E. Church in Newberry, SC, Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Newberry, SC, Saint Marks A.M.E. Church in Pomaria, SC, Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newberry, SC, and Saint Matthew Baptist Church where she later joined with her husband.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish fond and loving memories include her husband, Daniel L. “B.A.” Williams of the home; daughter, Christine Marzell McFadden of Columbia, SC; son, Henri Brazelle McFadden of Tampa, FL; stepdaughter, Latrakus Patrice Williams of Newberry, SC; two sisters, Louise Chapman of Augusta, GA, and Nezzie DeFrank (Philip) of Morris Plains, NJ; two brothers, Lewis Emmett Galloway Collins, Jr., and Dave Ezell Collins both of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Jerrell Ezra McFadden, Kameo Lare’ McFadden, Sean McFadden-Newman and Kamari Cox; two great-grandchildren, Keimonj McFadden and Gavin Washington; a host of nieces, nephews; devoted sister-in-law, Clevon “Jell” Davidson (Michael); two devoted brothers-in-law, Henry “Nard” Williams (Sabrina) and Antonio “Poe” Williams; other relatives and friends including devoted friends, Dorothy “Dot Jane” Eleazer, UMI NANDEDI, Nancy Lou Anderson-Glasgow and Rev. Patricia “Connie” Glenn both of Newberry, SC; and her church family who will sadly miss her.

The family will receive friends at the home (1236 Summer Street, Newberry).

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020 at Saint Matthew Baptist Church in Newberry. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
