Thelma Butler Obituary

Mrs. Thelma Butler entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday July 25, 2020 at her home.  Born March 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Lillie Mae Metz Dennis.  Thelma was reared at 723 Laurel St. in Columbia, SC, which is known as "the vista" now to all.  In her early years she worked in the family store Carver Heights Grocery.  She also worked at the USO for many years.  In 1979, Thelma was one of the first volunteers for the Lake Murray Rescue Squad in Prosperity.

Thelma was a Booker T. Washington High School graduate class of 1949.  A graduate of Allen University, class of 1953.

Thelma will be missed by her Columbia, Prosperity and her Fayetteville, NC families.  All of whom, family and friends, she made a lasting impression on.  Thelma loved horses and received many awards and ribbons for the many types she had.  Thelma was the owner of Butler Home Cares, one on Hwy 76 in Prosperity, the other on Leisure Point Rd. Lake Murray in Prosperity.

We applaud you Thelma for your many accomplishments and your knowledge of Life.

Her husband Major Earnest Butler and sister Lillian V. Dennis preceeded her to heaven.
